About Me

My name is Carrie.

I am married to a fabulous guy and we have a wonderful daughter.

Our daughter is a percussionist which means she plays several percussion instruments, but her specialty is the marimba. We have loved hearing her practice through the years...for the most part.

She can get dressed up...

...and she can be a goofball!

She is now in her senior year of high school and I am NOT looking forward to her moving away to college. It is a must...but I don't have to like it. :-)

It is a good thing that I will have my students to cheer me up next year! I teach second grade and I love my little buddies. Originally, I believed that I was the quintessential kindergarten teacher because I enjoy everything about that age, the curriculum, and singing everything with them. I was fortunate enough to teach kindergarten for a few years.

However, as time moved on, I taught different grades due to various circumstances and discovered that I love second grade! Along the way, I taught first grade as well as a remediation program with the upper elementary grades. All the while, I was hoping to stay in the younger grades so that they would be glad to sing with me. Lo and behold, I found out that second graders love to sing too!

You know how you get a song stuck in your head?

My goal is to sing and chant skills, strategies, and content
                 so that the kids
                           smile while they are learning,
accidentally sing the songs at home, and, eventually,
have the songs “stuck in their heads.”

After all, we want them to retain all that they have learned. Wouldn’t you agree?

Thanks for stopping by!
Carrie

  1. Carrie is a fabulous fun-loving teacher who incorporates a lot of singing, dancing and hands on learning in her classroom. She is well loved by her students, parents, but mostly by her 2nd grade team. Carrie is our cheerleader, someone you can always count on to treat you with encouragement, a smile, unconditional love and to those who know and love her best a high kick and sparkle fingers! I should know I have the privilege of teaching right beside her. I hate to admit, but I have had some students say, " I wish I was in Mrs. Jones' class!" I lam so proud of you Carrie and happy to support you in this venture.

  2. Wow, Tracey! Thank you for your VERY kind words!! I love y'all too! As a matter of fact, I often wish I could be like you...always thinking WAY ahead lesson-wise and team-wise. I'm too busy enjoying the process, but you are getting it all done! Thanks for making us laugh all of the time. You make everything seem so funny! It is a privilege to teach next to you as well.
